I haven't had much opportunity to turn lately so I'm grateful for a chance to get into my shop. Found a random burl and it turned out to be a piece of black ash burl 🤩 There were a million ways I could have turned it, but I chose to turn it the way I chose to turn it, and the way I chose to turn it was just the right way for me 😘 These pictures honestly don't even do it justice, it's so much cooler in person.

One week away from @iwfatlanta ! Picked up the illustration board today - excited to deliver this piece for the IWF Design Emphasis Student Furniture Design Competition.

There are 5 students from the HCC Professional Crafts Program competing out of 41 entries. We're kinda awesome 🤩

🎉 It's Here! The Hexagrain Console is Finished! 🎉

I'm so excited to announce the completion of my Hexagrain Console table! This beauty is all about breaking the mold with its iconoclastic design, crafted entirely from ash wood.

With legs inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics and featuring a chic taper and bridle joinery, it's got sophistication written all over it. The tabletop's elongated hexagonal shape highlights the stunning end grain along its dramatic edges.

But that's not all! The angled dividers encase a trapezoid drawer with a unique end grain brick pattern, creating a fantastic textural contrast that blends classic influences with a modern twist.

This beauty was accepted as a finalist for the IWF Atlanta (largest woodworking show in North America) Design Emphasis Student Furniture Design Competition and will be heading to Atlanta the first week of August!
